PRIDE

June 26, 2017

Happy pride! This week we recap our weekend of gay events, Ana shares her thoughts on her first time ever going to NYC Pride (spoiler alert: she’s straight but she loved it!), we set clear and simple rules for being a straight person at pride, and Jaye shares a special report on a little town called Spencer, Indiana.  If you’re a new listener who got a sticker from us at pride, please trust that our sound quality isn’t always this bad!

Learn more about Spencer Pride and donate to their commUnity center at http://spencerpride.org/!

Mr. Magorium’s Bisexual Emporium

June 19, 2017

A few weeks ago, we decided live on air that we wanted to do a bisexuality round table, and guess what? After Jaye responds to some Pretty Little Liars-related feedback, today we're joined by four bisexual old and new friends of ours: Juan Calero, JB Douglas, Shelley Farmer, and Emily Oliveira! We discuss stigma, representation, celebrities, and Shelley's wrong opinion about the iconic 2006 film She's the Man. Be sure to listen all the way to the end for our first ever listener of the week, and an exciting announcement about our corporeal forms!

Our panelists:

Juan Calero: @NYCLibertador
JB Douglas: @jbdouglas.art / @jbdouglas.nyc
Shelley Farmer: @shelley.b.farmer / shelleyfarmer.com
Emily Oliveira: @emilyanneoliveira / emilyanneoliveira.com

The Body Issue

June 12, 2017

On this week’s Very Special Episode, we get #real about butch representation, muscle culture, and body dysmorphia in the gay community. Both hosts share intimate and somewhat traumatic stories about our experiences with body issues, and we spend some academic time at the Eating Disorder Institute. Never fear, though: at the end of the episode, we return to our usual upbeat selves and start a film production company!

If you or someone you know is struggling with an eating disorder, you can call the National Eating Disorders Association Helpline at (800) 931-2237 or text “NEDA” to 741741. You can visit www.edinstitute.org for more information.

The Fame Monster

June 5, 2017

This week, we’re talking about our favorite thing in the whole pop culture world: celebrities!!! We start by discussing the difference between lesbian icons and gay icons, then move on to sharing (a few of) our celebrity enemies. After that, the conversation gets off-course and we eventually dissolve into hysterics over our favorite LGBTQ+ celeb, model / actress Hari Nef. Hari, if you’re reading this, please come on the podcast! Plus, a special cameo from everyone’s favorite Full(er) House homophobe, and some CELEBRITY MATCHMAKING! Have fun!

The View UpStairs (with Max Vernon)

May 22, 2017

We saw the new immersive musical The View UpStairs, and the man who wrote the whole thing is here to debrief with us! Writer and composer Max Vernon talks to us about the history of the project, why he thinks it's important to tell depressing stories in a fun way, and the exciting combinations of understudy tracks that keep the show just a little bit dangerous. Speaking of danger, we also reveal to him that there was a special guest star at our performance who almost sent us into cardiac arrest.

Call Me Single

May 15, 2017

We begin today with some sad news about our favorite TV show The Real O’Neals, then get into the matter at hand: dating as a queer millennial. Namely, why is it so hard? What are we looking for? How do we find it? And most importantly, are our soulmates listening to this episode and, if so, will they write in to ask us out? Let us know at 1morethingpodcast@gmail.com!

Vogaybulary

May 8, 2017

This week we open our dictionaries and our minds to talk about (some of) the vocabulary the queer community uses to talk about ourselves. We start out by trying to figure out why T is even part of LGBTQ+, then fill each other in on the different kinds of gays and lesbians, beyond butch, femme, twink, and bear. We close out the episode with a discussion about pronouns, during which our first-ever call-in guest joins us live from an airport terminal!!!

The Gang’s All Here (with Tom Phelan)

May 1, 2017

Welcome to our FIRST GUEST EPISODE!!! Actor Tom Phelan (ABC Family’s ‘The Fosters' and Playwrights Horizons ‘Hir’) returns to the apartment he once shared with Jaye, where we force him to relive the darkest moments of his past, including his time as a teenage celebrity and his status as a Spring Awakening superfan. Then the podcast becomes a free-for-all for us to talk about our favorite (and least favorite) movies and musicals of the last few years. We also debut the special guest edition of our game, in which Tom teaches us some Mandarin slang. What more could you want?

LGBTV

April 24, 2017

Welcome to the podcast where we don’t fact check anything! This week, we take a whirlwind tour through the best (and worst) of LGBTQ+ television programming, from Ellen and her fictional alter ego coming out twenty years ago this month to our favorite currently airing sitcoms about queer teenagers. We also discuss potential solutions to the Television Academy’s gender problem, present our case for why everyone should watch season 3 episode 4 of Black Mirror, and feel grateful that we're not a visual medium as we take a trip to Pornhub in search of sex scenes from The L Word.

Putting the G in BiG BudGet

April 17, 2017

In our SERIES PREMIERE (!) we discuss whether the gay characters in two recent blockbusters lived up to the hype, and the differences between queer representation in studio and indie movies. We also debate what the unexpected (and amazing) success of Moonlight is going to do to the indie film industry and the Oscars, and the inaugural round of One More Thing (the game) leads us to some hard-hitting investigative journalism regarding the actors in our favorite early 2000s gay movies.
